Abstract
Apart from storing lipids, adipose tissue has many complex roles, and its features are associated with an array of metabolic and other types of diseases. By analyzing single-cell RNA- seq data from adipose tissue, the levels of gene expression was used to determine cell type and to determine the enriched pathways within younger and diverse mice. Specifically, beige adipose tissue was identified in Diversity Outbred and some inbred mice not exposed to cold nor administered drugs. Adipose tissue is heterogeneous and can be readily queried using single-cell transcriptomics to identify differences in age and genetics.
